Fulham Good Neighbours is a charity supporting older and disabled people with practical tasks at home such as basic DIY, gardening, and decorating, as well as collecting medication, making appointments, shopping and taking care of pets. The organisation also run a dedicated befriending scheme, a digital inclusion project and a range of social clubs to help beat isolation and loneliness.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will support older and disabled people to develop their digital literacy and proficiency helping them to use digital technologies such as computers, smartphones, software applications, and the internet effectively. As a Digital Skills Volunteer, you will learn a set of skills such as communication, patience, empathy, teaching and training abilities, problem-solving, digital literacy, and technical proficiency.
Typical duties include:
- Conducting workshop, explaining and demonstrating how to use laptops, tablets, smartphones
- Creating email accounts and demonstrating how to use calendars to set up helpful reminders
- Supporting beneficiaries to use social media, Skype, and WhatsApp to connect with friends and loved ones
- Exploring online shopping opportunities, how to find medical information and book GP appointments online
Please note, the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½Volunteers team would like you to commit to a minimum of 2-3 months.
