MiB2017 1

Hundreds of visitors attended the opening day of this year’s Made in Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½exhibition – the University’s annual showcase of innovative talent emerging from Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½Design.

Held at Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf, Made in Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½features an impressive range of diverse final-year projects, demonstrating the creativity and innovation which this year saw Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½ for the study of design.

Introducing guests to the show in this year’s event brochure, Head of Design Ian de Vere noted that the 2017 graduating class “demonstrate the values that industry has come to expect of Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½graduates: creative, inspired, informed, responsible, motivated, and highly employable”.

“This student-led initiative presents a new generation of innovative thinkers with great potential to contribute not only to the UK’s creative and manufacturing industries, but also to a more equitable and sustainable future,” he said.

Made in Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½2017 - the culmination of a year of pop-up events, talks, and collaborations with industry - is titled ‘Redefining’ [a design showcase], with students redefining and finding new ways to tackle problems through the medium of design, and - throughout their four years at Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½- redefining what it means to be a design student and next-generation design professional.

Made in Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½is organised and promoted by Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½students with the support of the University, led by Director of Development and Alumni Relations Clive Gee, who notes that “once you’ve organised one of these events, there is little in the workplace that will be intimidating or look like too great a challenge”.
