Design alumni from Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½University London have created an annual award for the ‘sharpest thinking’ new design graduate.

Members of the Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½Design class of 2005 organised and hosted that year’s student design showcase, *sharper, before the current title - Made in Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½- was introduced a year later.

Some of the *sharper team attended Made in Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½last week to award what they consider to be the best example of inspiring, innovative, ‘sharper thinking’ in the 2017 graduating class.

Their £1,000 prize was presented by 2005 *sharper lead James Hebbert, MD of Hylink Digital Solutions UK, to BSc Product Design student Agata Guz for her project, Bumpe, which focuses on continuous health monitoring during pregnancy and early child development.

The *sharper team, which includes 2005 show co-organiser Paul Scrase, have pledged to repeat the award for the next three years in memory of fellow Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½design graduate Tom Alton, who passed away earlier this year.

Made in Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½is a student led collaborative platform focused on showcasing good design from Â鶹¹û¶³´«Ã½University London. It is an opportunity for students to show their skill to the world with events and publications, culminating in an annual exhibition in June, located in central London. This year’s showcase ran from 15-18 June.
